Come and be a part of The
Ongoing Restoration of Greystone Mansion! This English Gothic Revival
manor home, completed in 1928 for the celebrated Doheny family of Los Angeles, was
recognized as a historic landmark and placed on the Register of Historic Places in
1976.
The Kelly S. King Academy, Inc. & Lori Le Mare
Studio, Inc. have teamed up to bring you a once in a lifetime chance to work on
this exciting historic site. Using original archival photos, we will work on
reproducing the original murals found in the "card room", as well as teach a
hands-on class in reproducing some of the beautiful architectural detail found at
Greystone.
Learn to create realistic classic finishes such as limestone, slate, patinated
bronze and portoro marble. Students will also come away with their own
mural, done in the style of the Greystone murals, as well as a chance to work on
the reproduction of a permanent mural installed on the walls of the Greystone
Estate.
Students will receive a tour of the estate, enjoy a daily catered lunch on the
terrace overlooking a breathtaking view of Los Angeles, all the while learning
decorative painting in a beautiful, architecturally significant setting. No
prerequisite required.
